Softball Recap: Mena Has No Trouble Against Dardanelle

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Booneville, Mena was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Dardanelle Sand Lizards with a sharp 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bearcats, who have now won ten matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Abi Koppein spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lily Rowland, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and one double. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmi Hensley, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Mena's win bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Dardanelle, their record is now 9-11.

Mena and Dardanelle should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Arkansas Rankings. The Bearcats (ranked 37th) will meet Ozark (ranked 140th) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Dardanelle will challenge Cedarville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (100 vs. 204).
