Gage Adkins posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Thursday. He struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.

Looking ahead, Adkins and Cherokee will be playing at home against Cocke County at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Chiefs are 9-1 against the Fighting Cocks going back to April of 2019, a lead they'll look to extend.
