It was a good run, but Verbum Dei Jesuit unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 74-67 to the JSerra Catholic Lions. The Eagles lost against the Lions in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 78-42 score last time.

Verbum Dei Jesuit lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ryan Figueroa, who posted 23 points and five assists. That's the most points Figueroa has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Harper Whitman, who had 12 points.

Verbum Dei Jesuit's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-9. As for JSerra Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 21-6.

Verbum Dei Jesuit is taking a road trip to take on St. Genevieve at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Verbum Dei Jesuit is facing St. Genevieve at the right time seeing as St. Genevieve is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for JSerra Catholic, they will welcome St. John Bosco at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in St. John Bosco's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 14 games.
