Tuesday just wasn't the day for Charleroi's offense. They lost 15-0 to South Park on Tuesday. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Meanwhile, Keystone Oaks never let their opponents score on Monday. They put the hurt on East Allegheny with a sharp 14-0 win. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.
Kennadi Smith made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.
In other batting news, Kailyn Brannon was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Evie Kyper was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.
Keystone Oaks kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
The victory made it two in a row for Keystone Oaks and bumps their season record up to 8-8. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Charleroi, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
Everything went Charleroi's way against Keystone Oaks in their previous meeting on Wednesday, as Charleroi made off with an 8-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
