Football Recap: Jaden Barrios-Pablo Leads George Washington's Defense on Saturday

George Washington scored first but ultimately less than Glenwood Springs in their contest on Saturday. They fell 21-13 to the Demons. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, George Washington saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Corey Dobbs threw for 231 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 61 yards on only six carries.

Even if they lost, George Washington's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jaden Barrios-Pablo. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with ten.

Glenwood Springs' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lamanie Portillo, who rushed for 89 yards on only ten carries. Zack Bollock helped out on the ground, rushing for 82 yards and a rushing touchdown.

George Washington now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Glenwood Springs, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.

Coming up, George Washington will welcome Denver North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Patriots' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Glenwood Springs, they will venture away from home to challenge Conifer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lobos' defense has only allowed 8.2 points per game this season, so the Demons' offense will have their work cut out for them.
