Baseball Recap: Dawson School Gets the Win

Dawson School's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Estes Park Bobcats. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Darren Sebek made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Dawson School is undefeated when Sebek posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Milo Richtel, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Dawson School: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 3-5 otherwise.

Dawson School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Dawson School's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-6. As for Estes Park, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bobcats beat Dawson School by a score of 24-1 later that day.
