Preview: Maple Heights Mustangs vs. East Tech Scarabs
The Maple Heights Mustangs just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the East Tech Scarabs at 5:00 p.m. on February 8th. Maple Heights will be strutting in after a victory while East Tech will be coming in after a loss.
Maple Heights can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent game on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Garfield Heights as Maple Heights made off with a 48-23 victory. The victory was just what Maple Heights needed coming off of a 55-20 loss in their prior contest.
Maple Heights' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brooklyn Dillard, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Janyah Weems, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, East Tech came up short against Max S. Hayes on Tuesday and fell 39-28. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for East Tech in their matchups with Max S. Hayes: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the defeat, East Tech had strong showings from Nadia Pamplin, who scored 14 points, and Shukuru Kalenga, who scored nine points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pamplin has scored all season.
Maple Heights' win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for East Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.
Maple Heights was able to grind out a solid win over East Tech when the teams last played back in January of 2018, winning 49-37. Will Maple Heights repeat their success, or does East Tech have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
