Baseball Game Preview: Fremont Tigers vs. Oakland Tech Bulldogs

Fremont is 0-6 against Oakland Tech since April of 2022 but things could change on Wednesday. The Tigers will welcome the Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m.

Fremont is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They came up short against Oakland, falling 18-6.

Meanwhile, Oakland Tech was not the first on the board on Saturday, but they got there more often. They were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over Piedmont. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by seven runs or more this season.

Oakland Tech got a great performance from Elias Thompson as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Thompson has posted since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hayden Burton, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rasheed Pittman, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI and one double.

Oakland Tech kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.6.

Oakland Tech is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Fremont, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
