Baseball Recap: Andrew Jackson Academy Starts off Right with Win over Calhoun County

Andrew Jackson Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Calhoun County Saints on Saturday as the Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors made off with an 8-1 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their 18-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Walker Terry was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs.

Terry wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jack Walling, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, Walling posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Hayden McClung was another, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Andrew Jackson Academy will head out to face off against Williston-Elko at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Calhoun County, they are headed away from home for the first time to take on Orangeburg-Wilkinson at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
