Basketball Game Preview: Gramercy Christian Warriors vs. Coastal Brigade

The Gramercy Christian Warriors will challenge Coastal Brigade at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, Gramercy Christian ended up a good deal behind New Bern Christian Academy and lost 53-34. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 581st, while New Bern Christian Academy are ranked 162nd).

Despite their loss, Gramercy Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Malachi Tribble, who posted eight points in addition to ten boards and three blocks, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego De Hoyos, who had 11 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Gramercy Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Coastal Brigade played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Liberty Christian Academy, falling 67-17. Coastal Brigade was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-13.

Gramercy Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Coastal Brigade, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Gramercy Christian against Coastal Brigade in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 73-34 victory. Will Gramercy Christian repeat their success, or does Coastal Brigade have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
