Softball Game Preview: Golden Valley Grizzlies vs. Valencia Vikings

Golden Valley is 0-10 against Valencia since April of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Grizzlies will face off against the Vikings at 3:15 p.m. Golden Valley has given up an average of 12.4 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Golden Valley is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Tuesday. They lost 14-1 to Saugus.

Rohan Elhamamsy made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Valencia got themselves on the board against Canyon on Tuesday, but Canyon never followed suit. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Cowboys. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Not much got past Carly Kearns, who gave up just four hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Canyon off the board. Kearns has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Aubrie Jensen was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Scarlett Carlson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Valencia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Valencia's record is now 11-6. As for Golden Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 4-16.

Golden Valley suffered a grim 19-2 defeat to Valencia when the teams last played on April 1st. Can the Grizzlies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
