Basketball Recap: Hillcrest Panthers vs. White Longhorns

Hillcrest lost against White back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hillcrest Panthers were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 46-45 to the White Longhorns. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 532nd, while the Longhorns are ranked 214th).

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Saivon Johnson, who posted four points. Dj Corbin was another key player, putting up six points and six boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead White to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trey Williams, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 14 points along with five assists and three steals. Williams has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ardon West, who scored 15 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Hillcrest's record now sits at 13-15. As for White, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season.
