Basketball Recap: Willis Wildkats vs. The Woodlands Highlanders

After flying high against the Caney Creek Panthers last Saturday, the Willis Wildkats came back down to earth. Willis fell to the Highlanders 62-57. Willis was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Highlanders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Willis' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jermaine Bishop jr, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Chandler Beasley, who scored 15 points.

Willis' defeat dropped their record down to 19-11. As for The Woodlands, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-12 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Willis will take on the War Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Oak Ridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 874th, while the Wildkats are ranked 228th). As for The Woodlands, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
