Basketball Recap: Madeira Takes a Loss

Madeira was the 48-37 winner over Clermont Northeastern when they last played one another back in January of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 42-41 to the Clermont Northeastern Rockets. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the MUSTANGS/AMAZONS came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while the Rockets are ranked 624th).

Madeira lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Aidan Hopewell, who posted 14 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Reed, who went 5-for-7 on his way to 11 points.

Madeira's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Clermont Northeastern, their win bumped their record up to 11-12.

As of now, neither Madeira nor Clermont Northeastern have any future games scheduled.
