Basketball Recap: Community Christian Piles Up the Points Against Jacksonville Christian Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Community Christian). They claimed a resounding 88-51 win over the Jacksonville Christian Academy Conquerors . The Cyclones have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 30 points or more this season.

Community Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jared Kovach led the charge by almost dropping a triple-double on 21 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists. That's the most points Kovach has posted since back in January. Evan Gattis was another key player, going 10 of 15 on his way to 24 points and five assists.

Community Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Jacksonville Christian Academy lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Pierson Santiago, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellen Evans, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 boards.

Community Christian pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 40.3 points. As for Jacksonville Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Community Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 101-66 win against Christ Covenant on the 9th. As for Jacksonville Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-37 defeat against Pamlico Christian Academy on the 10th.
