Basketball Game Preview: Fort Lupton Bluedevils vs. Platte Valley Broncos

The Fort Lupton Bluedevils will head out to square off against the Platte Valley Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fort Lupton has given up an average of 66.9 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Tuesday, Fort Lupton lost to Eaton on the road by a 78-61 margin. While the Bluedevils didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Reds 18-11 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Platte Valley hadn't done well against Sterling recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Broncos walked away with a 63-56 victory over the Tigers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Broncos.

Fort Lupton better keep an eye on Regan Edstrom. He was instrumental in Platte Valley's win, going 6-for-12 to rack up 13 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Alejandro Perez, who shot 45% from the field on his way to 10 points and six rebounds.

Platte Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Platte Valley now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Fort Lupton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.

Fort Lupton was able to grind out a solid win over Platte Valley when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 60-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bluedevils since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
