Softball Recap: Pleasant Grove Eagles vs. Franklin Wildcats
Pleasant Grove had lost five straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 6-9 to make it six. They fell just short of the Franklin Wildcats by a score of 11-10. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.
Logan Paredes and Shealynn Stinson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Paredes went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI, while Stinson got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Makayla Teel was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
As for Franklin, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games.
On Franklin's side, Kayly Wood was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Wood a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Pham, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one triple.
Looking ahead, Pleasant Grove will be taking part in a tournament against Salinas at 8:00 a.m. on Friday. The Cowboys' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Franklin, they will venture away from home to square off against Cosumnes Oaks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
