Basketball Recap: Shady Spring Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Shady Spring and Nitro squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Shady Spring had to settle for second. They took a hard 63-49 fall against the Wildcats. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

It was another big night for Ty Stephens 6'1 165Lbs, who shot 56% from the field on his way to 26 points and five boards for Nitro. Another player making a difference was Timmy Lovejoy, who posted ten points and three blocks.

The loss snapped Shady Spring's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 20-5 record. As for Nitro, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.

Shady Spring does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Nitro, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Bridgeport at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Bridgeport will roll in looking for their 22nd straight win, something Nitro surely won't give up without a fight.
