Baseball Recap: Amundsen Triumphs

Amundsen lost to Niles Notre Dame back in May of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Vikings walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Dons. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Mason Becker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on nine hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ian Johnson, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Antonio Yanez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Amundsen's record is now 15-7-1. As for Niles Notre Dame, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Amundsen will welcome Steinmetz College Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings are facing the Streaks at the right time seeing as the Streaks are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Niles Notre Dame, they will be playing at home against North Shore Country Day at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
