Basketball Recap: East Wake Skates Past West Johnston with Ease

East Wake waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They took their game with ease, bagging an 80-39 victory over the West Johnston Wildcats. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-25.

East Wake was led to victory by Caden Midgette and Pierre Crespo. Midgette went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points, while Crespo posted 14 points and four steals. Those 20 points gave Midgette a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamal Taybron, who earned five points and six assists.

East Wake was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

West Johnston lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Caden Hartman, who put up ten points. Hartman is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Chase Gilmore, who had nine points.

East Wake is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season. As for West Johnston, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-8.

East Wake didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-44 win against Hunt on the 9th. As for West Johnston, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 65-44 victory against Southern Wayne on the 9th.
