The Lakeland Chiefs will head out to square off against the Montrose Meteors at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Lakeland came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Valley View, falling 10-4. The Chiefs have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Ryan McGrane made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
Meanwhile, the third road match was the charm for Montrose, as they earned their first away win of the season. Everything went their way against Tunkhannock on Thursday as Montrose made off with a 32-14 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Meteors' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Chase Harman and Adam Sorensen made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Harman pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sorensen didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. At the plate, Harman scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Sorensen scored five runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his seven plate appearances.
In other batting news, Montrose got a massive performance out of Hudson Aukema, who got on base in all six of his plate appearances with one home run, eight RBI, and five runs. Lukas Cokely was another key player, scoring six runs while getting on base in all six of his plate appearances.
Montrose always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .679. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .526 that Tunkhannock posted.
Montrose's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Lakeland, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Lakeland suffered a grim 13-6 defeat to Montrose when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Lakeland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
