Basketball Game Preview: Pinellas Park Patriots vs. Pasco Pirates

The Pinellas Park Patriots will take on the Pasco Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pinellas Park is looking for their season's first win.

Back in December of 2024, Pinellas Park came up short against Dunedin and fell 64-51. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 659th, while the Falcons are ranked 301st).

Meanwhile, Pasco ended up a good deal behind River Ridge on Wednesday and lost 89-74.

Pinellas Park will need focus on slowing down TJ Gebru, one of several Pasco players who made an impact when they last played. He went 8 for 14 on his way to 23 points. The game was Gebru's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Jeremiah Miller was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Pasco smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Pasco's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Pinellas Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
