Basketball Recap: Benson Skates Past Omaha South with Ease

Benson won the last time they faced Omaha South and things went their way on Friday too. The Benson Bunnies blew past the Omaha South Packers 61-16. That 45 point margin sets a new team best for the Bunnies this season.

Aubrey Harper and Genesis Ruiz certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Harper almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards, while Ruiz posted no points. That was a full 81.3% of Omaha South's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Jasmine Cervantes-Garcia also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Benson's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Omaha South, they dropped their record down to 2-11 with the loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Benson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-40 defeat against Lincoln Southwest on the 18th. Omaha South has also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Omaha North on the 21st.
