Basketball Game Preview: Uvalde Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) vs. Floresville Tigers/Jaguars

Uvalde is 0-10 against Floresville since January of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Uvalde Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) will face off against the Floresville Tigers/Jaguars at 12:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Uvalde is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game last Friday. They lost to Pearsall at home by a 61-45 margin. While losing is never fun, the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1125th, while the Mavericks are ranked 512th).

Meanwhile, Floresville came up short against Bandera last Tuesday and fell 66-57.

Uvalde will need focus on slowing down Ryland Parker, one of several Floresville players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 21 points. With that strong performance, Parker is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of LaDamian Evans, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 15 points.

Even though they lost, Floresville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Uvalde's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Floresville, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.

Uvalde lost to Floresville on the road by a decisive 49-35 margin when the teams last played back in January. Can Uvalde avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
