Basketball Recap: Cardinal Mooney Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Cardinal Mooney had no problem doing just that on Monday. They came out on top against the Winthrop College Prep Academy Spartans by a score of 55-43. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Spartans are ranked 375th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cardinal Mooney to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sam Reindel, who went 7 for 10 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Malakai Cuffy, who went 5 of 12 en route to 15 points and four steals.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Cardinal Mooney, bringing their record for this year to 24-2. As for Winthrop College Prep Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-16.
