Baseball Recap: Lakewood Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cherry Creek, Lakewood was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Mountain Range Mustangs. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2019.

Sean Lann was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was CJ Mahoney, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Lakewood is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Mountain Range, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakewood will square off against Columbine at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Tigers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Mountain Range, they will head out to square off against Northglenn at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
