Basketball Game Preview: Farmington Falcons vs. Wayne Memorial Zebras

The Farmington Falcons will take on the Wayne Memorial Zebras in a tournament on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Wayne Memorial will be up against a hot Farmington squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Farmington came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 55-51 W against Stevenson. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Spartans are ranked 200th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Wayne Memorial blew past Crestwood, posting a 60-20 victory. The Zebras have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Wayne Memorial's win came from a few key players Farmington will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jaylohn Allen, who shot 73% from the field to rack up 19 points and five steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Austin Tory was another key player, going 7-for-13 en route to 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Wayne Memorial was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They are a perfect 19-0 when they've passed the ball that well.

Wayne Memorial is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.4 points. Farmington's record is now 19-5.
