Softball Game Preview: Los Angeles Academy of Arts & Enterprise Wolves vs. Animo Venice Pirates

Los Angeles Academy of Arts & Enterprise is 2-8 against Animo Venice since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Wolves are taking a road trip to take on the Pirates at 3:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Thursday, Los Angeles Academy of Arts & Enterprise got the win against Animo Watts by a conclusive 23-14. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.

Meanwhile, Animo Venice came tearing into Monday's match with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Eagles 18-5.

Animo Venice got a massive performance out of Yulianna Cardenas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs. Those two runs gave Cardenas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sable Guerrero, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Animo Venice was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .417 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Animo Venice pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Los Angeles Academy of Arts & Enterprise, their record is now 8-5.

Los Angeles Academy of Arts & Enterprise suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Animo Venice in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
