The Coventry Oakers will face off against the Prout Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Coventry will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Coventry is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Moses Brown, who was ranked 19th at the time (Coventry was ranked third). The Oakers never let the Quakers get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Monday. The Oakers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by 11 runs or more this season.

Mary Mcgovern made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leah Lapham, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Izzy Dyl, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
Coventry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Moses Brown only posted an OBP of .056.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Prout nor Westerly made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Crusaders skirted past the Bulldogs 5-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Crusaders.
Lucy Kaiser spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 13 Ks.
At the plate, Emma Manzo was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsea Flaherty, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Coventry pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Prout, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Coventry hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Prout struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Coventry was able to grind out a solid win over Prout when the teams last played back in April of 2019, winning 6-2. Will the Oakers repeat their success, or do the Crusaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
