Basketball Game Preview: Greeley Central Wildcats vs. Durango Demons

Two dominant guards in Madison Sepeda and Claire Goodwin are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Greeley Central Wildcats will take on the Durango Demons at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Greeley Central will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Greeley Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They skirted past Battle Mountain 37-35. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since February 3, 2024.

Greeley Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sepeda led the charge by putting up 12 points and six steals. Sepeda is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Archibueque, who posted eight points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Durango was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 45-39 to Fruita Monument. The Demons have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Greeley Central will have to contain Goodwin as she made an impact in Durango's last game. She went 6-for-12 to rack up 15 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Ellie White was another key player, earning nine points.

Durango's loss dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Greeley Central, their victory bumped their record up to 13-11.
