Baseball Recap: St. Anthony Beats Salesian for Their Third Straight Win

St. Anthony lost to Salesian back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. St. Anthony was the clear victor by a 16-1 margin over Salesian. The Saints might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by seven runs or more this season.

Austin Cassidy made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cassidy was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Matthew James was excellent, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jason Glenn, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

St. Anthony kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory was the third in a row for St. Anthony, bringing their record up to 7-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Salesian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

St. Anthony and Salesian could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. St. Anthony will square off against Palmer Trinity at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday down 373 places (594 vs. 221). Meanwhile, Salesian (ranked 633rd) will meet Wilson (ranked 200th) at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
