Baseball Recap: Cochranton Wins Going Away Against Cambridge Springs

Cochranton came out on top against Cambridge Springs on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Devils with a sharp 7-1 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-0 back in April.

Andrew Albert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up ten Ks. Cochranton is 2-1 when Albert allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Tim Deeter was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Gavin Moore also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cochranton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cambridge Springs only managed three hits.

Cochranton's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Cambridge Springs, they dropped their record down to 3-11 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Coming up, Cochranton will welcome Northwestern at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cambridge Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
