Volleyball Recap: Gwynedd Mercy Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Faith Christian Academy on Friday, Gwynedd Mercy Academy came back down to earth. The Monarchs fell just short of the Lansdale Catholic Crusaders by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Monarchs' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Gwynedd Mercy Academy took Lansdale Catholic into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-19, 25-21, 19-25, 15-13.

Emma Fazio paced Gwynedd Mercy Academy's offense, picking up eight kills. Fazio got some help from Peggy Dougherty and her 22 assists. Carolyn Walton controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Gwynedd Mercy Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Lansdale Catholic, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gwynedd Mercy Academy will head out to take on Mt. St. Joseph Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lansdale Catholic, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Pennridge at 6:30 p.m. on October 6.
