Ponderosa proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 29) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Casa Roble Rams 36-34. This was payback for the Bruins, who suffered a 35-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Among those leading the charge was Colton Ridgley, who threw for 145 yards and four touchdowns. 83 of those passing yards were hauled in by Zealand Jenks, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Casa Roble lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Aidan Lopez, who threw for 237 yards and three TDs. Jaylan Barcenas helped Lopez out on the ground, rushing for 52 yards and one score, while also catching one touchdown.

Ponderosa's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Casa Roble, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Ponderosa and Casa Roble should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Bruins will take on Foothill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (188 vs. 657). Meanwhile, Casa Roble (ranked 189th) will meet Bella Vista (ranked 578th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
