After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pen Argyl, Notre Dame-Green Pond was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past the North Schuylkill Spartans 9-8. For the Crusaders, this counts as revenge for the 8-1 win the Spartans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Michael Wachter, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Connor Albert was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Notre Dame-Green Pond kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive games.

Notre Dame-Green Pond has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for North Schuylkill, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Notre Dame-Green Pond will square off against Wilson Area at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Crusaders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for North Schuylkill, they will take on Pottsville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
