Baseball Recap: Harlingen South Drops Highest Score of Season Against Carroll

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Harlingen South). They never let the Carroll Tigers get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Thursday. The Hawks not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16, 2024.

Richard Pizano tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over six innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Josh Ruiz, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Kris Cruz also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

The win got Harlingen South back to even at 2-2. As for Carroll, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Harlingen South wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 8-0 loss against San Marcos on the 28th. As for Carroll, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-0 defeat against South San Antonio on the 28th.
