Softball Recap: Morristown Has No Trouble Against Oldenburg Academy

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hagerstown, Morristown was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Oldenburg Academy Twisters 12-2. Considering the Yellow Jackets have won three contests by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Abby Hawk was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Hawk was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nevaeh Cox, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and two stolen bases while going 3-for-3. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Mykynzy Smith was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Morristown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Morristown's record now sits at 3-4. As for Oldenburg Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morristown will square off against Herron at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oldenburg Academy, they will challenge Jac-Cen-Del at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
