Baseball Game Preview: Kankakee Kays vs. Bishop McNamara Fightin' Irish

The Kankakee Kays will challenge the Bishop McNamara Fightin' Irish at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Kankakee has given up an average of 9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Kankakee fell victim to Wilmington and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Wildcats, falling 12-0. The Kays haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Kankakee saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Byron Wills, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Bishop McNamara had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Boilermakers.

The team relied heavily on Jacob Lotz, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Ricketts, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Bishop McNamara's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Kankakee, their loss dropped their record down to 8-15.

Everything went Kankakee's way against Bishop McNamara when the teams last played back in April of 2023, as Kankakee made off with a 7-1 win. Do the Kays have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Fightin' Irish turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
