Basketball Game Preview: American Christian Academy Patriots vs. Prattville Christian Academy Panthers

American Christian Academy is 3-0 against Prattville Christian Academy since November of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 4:30 p.m. American Christian Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Prattville Christian Academy will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with 14 defeats in a row dating back to last season, American Christian Academy turned things around against Bibb County two weeks ago. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-50 win over the Choctaws. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Patriots have posted since February 21, 2024.

American Christian Academy found their leader in freshman Davin Thornton, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 22 points and eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thornton has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Boyd, who posted six points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.

Meanwhile, Prattville Christian Academy ended up a good deal behind Montevallo last Saturday and lost 57-40. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 370th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 159th).

Prattville Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for American Christian Academy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-13.

American Christian Academy took their victory against Prattville Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 58-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for American Christian Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
