Basketball Recap: Nigel Favers Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat North Clayton

Riverdale won the last time they faced North Clayton and things went their way on Friday too. The Riverdale Raiders snuck past the North Clayton Eagles with a 44-39 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Riverdale to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nigel Favers, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 boards. Favers also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Riverdale is undefeated when he posts at least three steals, but 7-11 otherwise. Jaylen Allen was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Modou Fall and Jaquavius Cox certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Fall dropped a double-double with 14 points and 18 rebounds, while Cox dropped a double-double with 11 points and 15 boards. With that strong performance, Cox is now averaging an impressive 8.2 rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was Carnell Kelly, who posted seven points.

Riverdale's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-11. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points over those games. As for North Clayton, they now have a losing record at 12-13.

Riverdale will have a chance to go back-to-back against North Clayton: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
