Basketball Recap: Wakefield Takes a Loss

Wakefield lost against Lutheran-Northeast back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Wakefield Trojans fell 54-41 to the Lutheran-Northeast Eagles. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Wakefield lost, don't look at Cael Johnson. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. Another player making a difference was Jacob Borg, who went 6 of 10 en route to 12 points and five rebounds.

Lutheran-Northeast's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gavin Feddern, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 21 points. Those 21 points gave Feddern a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Colston Kapels, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 16 points.

Wakefield's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Lutheran-Northeast, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wakefield will take on Ponca at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ponca will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Wakefield surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lutheran-Northeast, they will face off against Battle Creek at 7:45 p.m. on January 16th.
