Softball Game Preview: Athens Hornets vs. Mexia Black Cats

The Athens Hornets will be taking part in a tournament against the Mexia Black Cats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Athens is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Tuesday. They came out on top against Eustace by a score of 9-6. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Mexia had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They won by a run and slipped past Centerville 6-5.

Athens took their victory against Mexia in their previous meeting back in March of 2019 by a conclusive 12-4. Will Athens repeat their success, or does Mexia have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
