Preview: Manor Mustangs vs. Round Rock Westwood Warriors
The Manor Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Round Rock Westwood Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Last Friday, Manor was the victim of a tough 36-16 defeat at the hands of Vista Ridge. While losing is never fun, Manor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 319th, while Vista Ridge is ranked 154th).
Despite the loss, Manor got a solid performance out of Titus Petteway, who rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries.
Meanwhile, Round Rock Westwood put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 49-20 win over Stony Point on the road. The win made it back-to-back wins for Round Rock Westwood.
Round Rock Westwood can attribute much of their success to Demani Stewart, who rushed for 125 yards and four touchdowns. Stewart hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for eight straight games. Round Rock Westwood also got help from Marquis Murry who showed off his sure hands for 81 receiving yards.
Manor has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Round Rock Westwood, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2.
Everything came up roses for Manor against Round Rock Westwood in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 44-9 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Manor since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
