Soccer Game Preview: Delta vs. Basalt

The Delta Panthers will take on the Basalt Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Delta is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Aspen just ended the team's six-match winning streak on Tuesday. They and the Skiers finished up their contest with a 0-0 draw. The result kept Delta happy, as they haven't lost a game since April 4th.

Meanwhile, Basalt fell victim to Steamboat Springs and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They came up short against the Sailors, falling 5-0. Basalt have struggled against Steamboat Springs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

With that draw, Delta's record moves to 9-3-2. As for Basalt, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8-2.

Delta got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Basalt by a conclusive 5-0 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Longhorns have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
