Softball Game Preview: Marathon Dolphins vs. Immaculata-La Salle Royal Lions

Marathon has gone a perfect 3-0 against Immaculata-La Salle recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Marathon will host Immaculata-La Salle at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Marathon will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Immaculata-La Salle last Tuesday. Marathon put the hurt on Immaculata-La Salle with a sharp 16-3 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Dolphins as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Sara Robinson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in hits (zero). She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Madelyn Thornton and Elena Eubank did most of the damage at the plate: Thornton scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Eubank went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Eubank a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shaina Robinson, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Marathon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Marathon now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Immaculata-La Salle, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6.

Immaculata-La Salle's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Marathon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .418.
