Berea won the last time they faced Holmes and things went their way on Saturday too. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Bulldogs. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 11 runs or more this season.
Addison Shouse made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Shouse was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kelsey Slone, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Tess McLin was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Berea's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-8. As for Holmes, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.
