Basketball Recap: Greenback Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Greenback had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They had to suffer through a 58-14 loss at the hands of the Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders. The Cherokees were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-7.

Gatlinburg-Pittman got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Maliyah Glasper out in front who went 5-for-12 on her way to 11 points in addition to seven steals and six boards. Another player making a difference was Chloe Mejias, who shot 71% from the field to rack up 11 points and four steals.

Looking ahead, Greenback will take on Concord Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gatlinburg-Pittman, they have already played their next contest, a 61-52 victory against Clinton on the 22nd.
