Basketball Game Preview: McCall-Donnelly Vandals vs. Ridgevue Warhawks

The McCall-Donnelly Vandals and the Ridgevue Warhawks will face off at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, McCall-Donnelly turned things around against Burley on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-50 victory over the Bobcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vandals have posted since January 6, 2024.

Emma Ormsby was a one-woman wrecking crew for McCall-Donnelly as she posted 20 points. The dominant performance gave Ormsby a new career-high in points. Zoe Spangenberg was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, Ridgevue waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 45-15 victory over the Huskies. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Warhawks have posted since November 19, 2024.

Ridgevue's win came from a few key players McCall-Donnelly will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was McKenna Durrant, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards. She has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Hollund Miller, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds.

Ridgevue smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

The victory got McCall-Donnelly back to even at 6-6. As for Ridgevue, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
