Softball Recap: Mountain View Vikings vs. Arroyo Knights

Mountain View easily dispatched Rosemead last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Vikings fell just short of the Arroyo Knights by a score of 7-5 on Wednesday. The Vikings have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Leanna Ramirez put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Ashley Saldivar was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Valerie Montes also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
