Baseball Game Preview: Hondo Owls vs. Randolph Ro-Hawks

The Hondo Owls will head out to challenge the Randolph Ro-Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hondo is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

On Saturday, Hondo beat Orange Grove 6-2.

Josiah Quintanilla was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Quintanilla wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rudy Alvarado, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Schulenburg hit Randolph with a four-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Ro-Hawks took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Shorthorns. The Ro-Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hondo's record now sits at 18-5-1. As for Randolph, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Randolph's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hondo hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. It's a different story for Randolph, though, as they've only averaged .258. Will they be able to contain Hondo's hitters?

Hondo took their win against Randolph in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Owls since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
